We are understandably proud to be able to play a ‘supporting’ role in the success of Tunnock’s in Scotland, providing their industrial resin flooring.
As Scotland’s best-loved confectionery company, having a high-performing resin factory floor that offers longevity as well as looking immaculate was essential for Tunnock’s flooring solution.
The company was formed by Thomas Tunnock in 1890, when he purchased a baker’s shop in Lorne Place, Uddingston. They now have worldwide sales of over £50 million and employ in excess of 500 staff.
Over the last 3 years, we’ve been working with Tunnock’s to install the Acrylicon Décor system in several production areas. This is achieved by using Acrylicon’s Traffic Red colour, as it’s a great match for the Tea Cake wrapping.
The substrate was prepared by a combination of shot-blasting and hand-grinding the surface to remove any latex, laitance and contamination.
Having fully cleaned and vacuumed the floor, a primer coat was applied, followed by the Acrylicon Décor system. We also created a 100mm high, 50mm radius coving to the wall/floor interface.
A stainless steel coving trim was used to leave a high-quality and aesthetic finish.
Hygiene and aesthetics were at the heart of this project, delivering a solution that gives customers peace of mind that they’re receiving sanitary confectionery.
In addition, the finished result also brought about a unique, eye-catching look that complemented Tunnock’s brand.
