Our team was asked to install an aircraft hangar floor for Benchmark Project Management Ltd, at a location in the South West of England.
The client required a treated flooring system for 10,000 sq ft of space in an aircraft hangar in the South West of England. The project required the floor to be hard-wearing, slip-resistant and easy to clean.
The chosen flooring was the Acrylicon Décor ESD System with built-in slip resistance, traffic markings and safety hatching. Acrylicon ESD was chosen due to its proven longevity, ease of cleaning (unlike other ESD systems, which rely on black carbon in the seal coat and are difficult to clean and maintain) and its chemical resistance to aircraft fuels and oils — including Skydrol.
The project included preparing the external ramp slab, treating all the joints, then priming and installing the Acrylicon Décor ESD System, with traffic marking and hatchings, before sealing the floor as one system. This ensures the coloured areas and line marking are chemically fused monolithically within the system, so there can be no future delamination or wearing.
The floor was fully cured within 2 hours of installation and ready to be trafficked, with the whole installation taking just 2 weeks.
